About the tour

One of the most popular half-day bicycle tours that is the perfect way to experience Battambang’s countryside. Cycle from place to place learning about the livelihoods of our local community, and enjoy the relaxing pace of village life.

What you need to know

There are 6 itineraries that our tour will bring you including;

Rice Paper: first stop at Donteav Village, approxiamtely located 7 kilometres from the town centre. At Donteav, visitors will involve in the making of rice paper, a staple that can be found in many Asian cuisine such as spring rolls.
Bananas for Bananas: next, visitors will get a chance to find out about the humble banana—a native fruit to Battambang. Visitor will meet a local villager who has been involved in the dried banana trade for more than 20 years and discover how this simple trade has sustained the lives of those in the village.
Rice Wine: next stop is heading over to a local rice wine distillery where visitors can observe the processes involved in the production of this local favourite. And yes, visitors can get to sample a taste if want!!
Khmer Noodle: next up is visiting a local noodle maker that visitor will learn about another important staple in Cambodian cuisine. Be sure to check out (and try) the manual pounder, a unique devise that is still used in noodle making!
Fish Paste Making: after noodles and noodles experience, next visitors will hop back on tuk-tuk to a local fish paste market. The smell may be slightly overwhelming for some, but it will be fascinating experience! As visitors watch the processes of fish paste making, you’ll learn about the fishing culture of the local area and the community that depends on the sea for its sustenance.
Bamboo Rice Cake: moving away from fishy business, visitors will be able to experience a special countryside delicacy: Bamboo rice cakes! Everyone is free to sample a taste!!!

About Butterfly Tour

Butterfly tour is an eco-friendly bike tour that seek to introduce visitors to the rich yet often unseens natures of Battambang, Siem Reap, and Kompot. Notably, butterfly tour is locally run by Cambodian students that majority comes from the countryside. They have extensive knowledge regarding Cambodia community, people, and traditions so visitors who are taking our tour guarantee an experience like no other with our local tour guide.
