A very satisfactory journey

The trip from Phnom Penh to Shianoukville is only 116 miles but took us 7.5 hours this meant we missed our ferry to go to Koh Rung and had to pay for a hotel for the evening. The weather was bad as was the traffic but the driver was very slow and no warni

Five hours is an understatement. It took us 7 hours to reach and despite telling the driver that we have to be there later by 5pm, he still took his time, had long breaks which caused us to miss our ferry.

The taxi description when booking said an SUV but instead we got a Prius. Should be clear about what to expect. Also there are alternative less crowded routes from PP to Kep and perhaps the driver should know the condition of both to select the best.

The driver was nice. He turned up early and spoke enough English for effective communication. He allowed us toilet and snack stops. The vehicle was in good condition. That said I would never do that overland trip again. Way too many maniacs on the road.
