Trip was about 14 h due to heavy Traffic in phnom penh. The van driver from pnohm penh to Sihanoukville was friendly but didt talk much to the english speaking passengers. It was often unclear why the van stops and what happens next.
To many stop (shop and restaurant) journey take 5,h.
I don’t like the restaurant at the Cambodian border. It’s terrible and expensive. Not worth at all. But I like Mekong express...
The bus was old with cracks on the windshield, worn out upholstery and broke down on the way. This meant that a scheduled 3 hour trip took 5 hours. The driver was a safe driver which was the only positive from the experience.
The pick-up from the hotel took a while. The seat assignments were followed, which is good. Aircon is cool. Restroom during stop-overs are clean. The only thing we hate is conductor ALWAYS ask for $ 1 to foreigners. Such a SCAM, Mekong Express!
Great ride; loved everything except the weird $2 per person charge. We assumed it was a bribe at the border but still wish it would have been mentioned earlier. I am lucky to have had any US dollars on me en route to Vietnam
Very good trip
Pretty comfy and friendly driver - recommend sitting upfront Road from Kampot to Phnom Penh is largely undeveloped so expect a bumpy ride. Due to the bumpy road and traffic entering Phnom Penh, we arrived at the bus station an hour late.
The bus driver drove dangerously. Also, the “girl inspector” asked a Danish family of 4 around 150usd to have their visa processed. I am quite worried with the said family if they were able to enter Vietnam since we left them in Cambodian border.
